Architect - Residential Jobs
Architect - residential jobs are classified under architecture and interior design jobs. Architect - residential jobs are for people who prefer to use their artistic talents in designing residential buildings such as homes, apartments, and condominiums.
Architect - residential jobs are common jobs in construction companies and architecture firms. However, architects may also choose to provide service to clients by setting up their own architecture businesses.
Responsibilities in Architect - Residential Jobs
Architects are responsible for designing homes and other residential facilities that are structurally useful, sound and beautiful. Hence, architects must know what purpose their clients have in mind in having a structure built. Architects must listen to their clients about the design they prefer and what possible functions the home or building may support. Architects must also create design sketches to present to clients and building contractors.
Architects must also be present at the construction sites every now and then to supervise operations and to conduct inspections of structures. Architects must also work side by side engineers, interior designers and landscape artists to unify their plans. Furthermore, architects may need to interact with construction workers and carpenters.
Education and Skills Required in Architect - Residential Jobs
Architects are required to have a bachelor's degree in architecture at the least. Courses in landscaping, interior designing and engineering are also helpful but not essential. Architects may also pursue further studies to acquire a master's degree or doctoral degree in related fields.
On top of education, architects are required to have undergone several years of training under professionals. Training and apprenticeship programs may demand trainees to help in drawing designs or in doing site inspections. Furthermore, architects must have taken special architecture examinations that enable them to earn their licenses.
Architects must have very good skills in communication as they always have to deal with clients and onstruction employees. Architects also need excellent organisation skills to be able to coordinate building plans with engineers, contractors and designers. Furthermore, architects need to have good observation skills since they must make sure that the quality of work done by construction workers meet clients' standards.
