          Call Centre - Inbound Jobs

          Call centres have phone operators and telemarketers that communicate with clients in various ways, but the one who makes the call defines the type of call centre job a phone operator is under. If the customer is the one who makes the call, the phone operator is called an inbound operator. Alternatively, if he is the one making the call, he is an outbound operator. For an inbound operator, a customer may call for various reasons. They may call to make a purchase, inquire about a gadget's proper operation, etc.

          Inbound operators, like those receiving a call for airline reservations, require job-specific personal skills such as the following:

          • People skills- in a call centre inbound job, you have no physical contact with your customers, so your voice must always have a friendly tone. It is common to receive an irate customer calling so you must also know how to handle these types of situations. As such, you must also be a good listener. Some call centres also need phone operators who are proficient in other languages such as Korean, German or Japanese.
          • Computer skills- all data regarding your calls should be recorded in the computer for future reference. This must be done while talking to your customer, so you must be able to multi-task between talking and taking down information or instructions. Word processing and Internet applications are the basic computer skills needed for a call centre inbound operator

          As with any job in the call centre industry, inbound phone operator jobs are customer-oriented. This type of job will definitely require the above-mentioned skills from any job applicants. Call centres usually require a college degree, but even non-degree holders may be hired if they have polished people and computer skills. Salaries range from moderate to high, and may include bonuses.
